Woezor!

Woezor!! You are welcome… the common greeting was extended to us in the air before our feet even touched the ground. We were greeted at the airport by one of our friends, Sisto. As we ride to the hotel, power is out- a common occurrence here- and the driver speaks that common phase, “Lights out.” The rich earthy smells of Africa infuse the air and remind us we are far from where we have traveled from. We settle in at the hotel, and have one of my favorite, non-African meals- tabouli, hummus and falafel. The hotel is owned by a Lebanese family, and we are warmly greeted by the owner whom I have met each trip. We can hardly make it through the meal, as the jet lag, and 5 hour time difference is setting in now that the initial adrenaline of de-boarding and arriving is wearing off. A long nap cures this. We later visit with our American and Jamaican friends, Richard, Beryl and Olivia whom gifted us with Children Inspiring Hope’s Ghanaian cell phone. We enjoy another meal together family style and share stories about how we all are here and the work and dreams before us. We crash again at the hotel, fulfilled that we have arrived and tomorrow we travel to Ho. It is quite a view out our window, and the chickens serenade throughout the night…
